Mizu — Terms of Service
Last updated: July 28, 2026
1. Agreement to Terms
Mizu is provided by DMC Labs, LLC (“DMC Labs,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By creating an account or using Mizu, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use Mizu.
2. What Mizu Is
Mizu is a personal spending tracker. It connects, with your permission, to your bank accounts to bring in your transactions and helps you review, label, and categorize them. Mizu is for your own personal, non-commercial use.
Mizu is not a financial institution and does not provide financial, legal, tax, or investment advice. Anything Mizu shows you — including categories and spending summaries — is presented for informational purposes only.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to use Mizu. Mizu integrates with United States bank accounts, which require account holders to be 18 or older. Mizu is not directed at children.
4. Your Account
You sign in to Mizu with Sign in with Apple or with an email address and password. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. If you use Sign in with Apple, you may use Apple’s Hide My Email option; Mizu works the same either way.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree to:
- Provide accurate information when using Mizu.
- Use Mizu only for lawful purposes and only for accounts you are authorized to access.
- Not attempt to interfere with, disrupt, or reverse-engineer Mizu.
- Not attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems, other users’ data, or any administrative interfaces.
- Not use Mizu to impersonate any person or entity.
6. Financial Data and Categorization
Mizu connects to your financial accounts through Plaid, a regulated bank-data aggregator that acts on your behalf. You acknowledge that:
- The connection to your bank is read-only. Mizu cannot move money, change account settings, or initiate transactions of any kind on your behalf.
- You are solely responsible for the accuracy of the financial information shown, and for any decisions you make.
- Transactions arrive with a suggested category, which you can confirm or correct. Suggested categories are best-effort; you should review them, and we do not warrant their accuracy.
- When connecting bank accounts through Plaid, you are also subject to Plaid’s own terms and privacy policy in addition to ours.
- Transaction descriptions are automatically scanned to redact sensitive identifiers (such as account numbers) before storage. You should still review your data for accuracy.
7. Subscription
Mizu offers an auto-renewing subscription that unlocks features such as connecting your own bank accounts.
- Price and period. The subscription is billed at the price and billing period shown on the purchase screen inside the app (US$1.99 per month). Prices may vary by storefront and are shown in your local currency before you purchase.
- Billing through Apple. Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. We never receive your card or payment details; Apple processes all payments.
- Automatic renewal. The subscription automatically renews for the same period unless you turn off auto-renewal at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple Account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Managing and cancelling. You can manage or cancel your subscription, and turn off auto-renewal, at any time in your Apple Account settings (Settings → your name → Subscriptions on iOS). Cancelling stops future renewals; the current paid period continues until it ends.
- Refunds. Payments are handled by Apple and are subject to Apple’s refund policies. We do not separately process refunds.
- Price changes. If we change the subscription price, we will seek your consent for the new price in accordance with Apple’s rules; if you do not agree, the subscription will not renew at the new price.
Any promotional or introductory offers are described at the point of purchase and are subject to their stated terms.
8. Data Export and Deletion
You may export your data or delete your account at any time from Mizu’s Settings. Account deletion is permanent: it removes your transactions, labels, notification tokens, and bank connections within seconds, and disconnects your linked banks at Plaid. We retain a minimal deletion record (your email and the deletion timestamp) as a record that the deletion occurred, for fraud-prevention purposes; see our Privacy Policy for details.
9. Intellectual Property
Mizu and all of its content, features, and functionality are owned by DMC Labs, LLC and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or distribute our software without our prior written consent.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, DMC Labs, LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of Mizu. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you have paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or one hundred US dollars, whichever is greater.
11. Disclaimer of Warranties
Mizu is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
12. Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to Mizu at any time, with or without cause. Upon termination, your right to use Mizu will immediately cease. The provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination shall do so.
13. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the “Last updated” date and the version, and by requiring re-acceptance within the app. Continued use of Mizu after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
14. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. The exclusive venue for any dispute arising from these Terms or from Mizu shall be the state or federal courts located in the State of Florida.
